HYDERABAD: An advocate was arrested by KPHB police on Monday for allegedly cheating a software engineer working with an IT firm. The advocate had reportedly cheated him on the pretext of helping the techie get bail in a drunk driving case.
The accused, Bhanu Prasad, was arrested on Sunday by KPHB police following a complaint lodged by R Venkat Pavan Kumar, after which Prasad was produced before a court on Monday.

Officials said that Pavan was caught by the traffic police last month for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and his vehicle was seized.
Pavan sought the help of Prasad, however, Prasad demanded Pavan to pay him Rs 70,000 to get him released on bail and get his vehicle released from the police. However, the victim could pay him only Rs 50,000. When Pavan told Prasad that he could not pay him the remaining amount, Prasad allegedly demanded Pavan to give him his Apple watch. After collecting the money and the watch, the accused did not process Pavan’s bail plea. Following this, the victim was sentenced to three-days imprisonment. After being released from jail, he approached KPHB police and lodged a complaint against Prasad.
