4-yr-old girl ‘sexually harassed’, mom to approach HC

Ludhiana: A mother has alleged that her four-year-old daughter has allegedly been sexually harassed by a school bus driver in a school bus. The woman has further alleged that the school authorities and police were reluctant to take action, forcing her to approach the Punjab and Haryana high court. On Monday, she also made an audio while narrating the entire incident and posted on social media, which later went viral.
The woman alleged that her daughter was a nursery student in a private school. She said that her daughter usually returned home by 12.15pm in the school bus but on Friday, the bus came at 12.40pm. When she reached outside to pick her daughter, she found her unconscious. Her daughter gained consciousness on Saturday morning around 7am.
She added that her daughter was complaining of pain in her lower body area. This made her apprehensive and raised doubts that her daughter might have been sexually harassed as she had come late and became unconscious too. On Saturday, she went to the school and told the school authorities about the incident. She further said that, “The school authorities called the bus driver and conductor. On seeing the driver, my daughter refused to go inside and started crying. I also asked the school to show me the footage of the CCTV installed in the bus. However, they said that the chip which usually records the footage had been damaged. Then I approached the police, but I was pressured to agree to a compromise in the case.”
The mother also claimed that, “When she took her daughter to a doctor, she was told that a rape attempt had been made on her.” She added that since the police was not registering a case, she was now approaching the high court.

Inspector Harjinder Singh said that, “On Monday, the medical of the four-year-old girl was conducted. The medical report did not suggest any sexual harassment of the girl. Still, we are verifying the case and would check CCTV footage of the school bus.”
School owner Harminder Singh, however, said that, “According to us, no such incident has happened with the girl as we have checked CCTV footage. But if in police investigation the school driver or conductor is found guilty, the school will certainly support the parents.
