VADODARA: A teacher of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) at Dahod was arrested on Sunday for allegedly molesting a female colleague and making obscene demands from her for the last six months.
The victim, a 39-year-old science teacher, approached the police recently when the school’s principal also did not heed to her complaints against the accused Ravi Jain.
When the teacher joined the school in March following her transfer from Kota, Jain was the in-charge principal of the school. The teacher has alleged that Jain started harassing her and within few days of her joining and started touching her inappropriately. She has also accused Jain of forcing her to have a relationship with him. “Jain allegedly used to ask the teacher to come and meet him when he was alone. But she couldn’t take it any more when he made obscene demands to clear her travel allowance last month,” said inspector K G Patel of Dahod Town police station.
She was to go for a teachers’ course in Mumbai for which she was to receive travel allowance in advance.
During the celebration of Independence Day at school, Jain stood beside her during group photo and started touching her.
Police said that when a full-time principal was appointed, the female teacher complained to her about Jain’s sexual harassment, but she did not take any action. Finally she gave an application to police against Jain.
When the cops went to the school, the school principal said that she would probe and submit a report to police.

But when nothing happened, the teacher asked the cops to lodge an offence on Saturday against Jain, who is married and has a kid.
