PANAJI:
Chief minister Pramod Sawant has directed that, henceforth,
recruitment for
Group C posts be carried out only through the staff
selection commission. Departments have been asked not to issue new advertisement for posts in the category.
In the order issued on September 6, departments that have advertised for
Group C posts after the bill was passed in the assembly last month have been asked to withdraw the release.
However, those that have already started recruitment will not be affected. “The department in question will have to take permission from the personnel department and they can continue their processes,” he told TOI.
The new legislation facilitates that Group ‘C’ posts be filled through the staff selection commission rather than each department conducting an independent recruitment process for similar category posts.
The idea behind the staff selection commission is to reduce recruitment time as well the trouble faced by potential candidates, who otherwise have to appear before multiple interviewing authorities when more than one department is hiring for the category.
Once the commission is constituted, all departments will require to inform it every year of class C vacancies arising in their respective sections.
Class C posts comprise positions such as lower division clerk, upper divisional clerk, junior assistant, peon, driver, store keeper, stenographer, technician and assistant.
