MOHALI: Police on Sunday arrested a man for allegedly exploiting aspiring models and budding actors while impersonating as Punjabi film producer Gunbir Singh Sidhu, the owner of Whitehill Studios and Whitehill Music.
Sidhu, in his complaint, alleged Obed Afridi would often make phone calls to women claiming to be the producer and asked them to send photos and videos in objectionable poses on the pretext of giving them roles in movies and modelling assignments. “This man would tell girls he’s willing to offer them modelling assignments in famous singers’ songs, but since he’s a very straightforward person, he would like to know if the girl is ready for “compromise” or not,” the complaint filed by Sidhu stated.
Police said Sidhu informed them that he had learnt Afridi was going to Mohali to shoot a Punjabi music video. Cops arrested him from a farmhouse while the FIR was registered on September 5, police said.

Sidhu alleged the accused was using two different mobile phone numbers and learnt that he was a casting agent.
Police said they recovered a tablet from Afridi and found evidence that he was posing as Sidhu on Whatsapp Chats and had exploited more than 35 girls.
