SURAT: Parts of South Gujarat recorded good rainfall on Sunday with several talukas of Navsari district like Chikli , Khergam and Vasada recorded more than 50mm of rainfall. Major parts of Valsad district too recorded more than 50mm of rain during the day.
Surat city, however, recorded just 4mm rainfall on Sunday, while skies remained overcast the entire day.
Ukai dam reservoir continued to get inflow of 66,276 cusecs of water, while its levels were recorded at 339.73 feet. The levels at the dam are fixed at 340 feet. The outflow from the dam is regulated at 34,493 cusecs at 7pm on Sunday.
RM Patel, superintendent engineer, Ukai dam said, “We are five feet below the optimum level of Ukai dam, which is 345 feet. Gross storage capacity of the dam is 7,414 million cubic metres (MCM) of water. At present Ukai has 5,795.93 MCM water, which is about 80 per cent of the gross capacity, but in real terms there is space for only about 900-1,000 MCM water.”

Rise of every feet of water in the dam level now means additional storage of about 178 MCM and the forecast for the next week suggests water influx up to 1,300 MCM if rains continue to lash the upper basin of Tapi river
Meanwhile, on Sunday Valsad taluka recorded 78mm of rainfall, Pardi 60mm , Kaprada 54mm and Vapi 50mm. Chikhli in Navsari district recorded 93mm of rainfall, Khergam 77mm, Vasda 53mm and Dolvan in Tapi district recorded 52mm of rains.
