Ludhiana: In a bid to keep a plastic free city under Tandrust Mission Punjab, the civic officials will run an intensive drive against use of plastic carry bags in the city. In case any resident tries to create a hurdle in the ongoing drive they will be asked to contact the mission director of Swachch Bharat Mission, Ajoy Kumar and Kahan Singh Pannu, mission director of Tandrust Mission Punjab. This resolution will be before the finance and contracts committee in a meeting to be held on Monday after which it will go to MC general house.
Also a resolution to increase the rates for stationing the commercial vehicles on road will also be tabled. The rates for tempo will be revised from Rs 2500 to Rs 10,000 and for Tata 407 it will be revised from Rs 10000 to 15000. It is being done because the number of such vehicles has increased where people sell eatable on such vehicles at city roads due to which the problem of traffic also increases.
For hiring 105 sewer men in wards under east constituency at contract basis will also be discussed. In the public parks around 125 compost pits will be made. The finance and contracts committee members will also discuss the issue of increasing the reserve price of Feroze Gandhi market and Sarabha Nagar market I block parking lot. Over 400 resolutions will be tabled in the meeting.
The civic officials had organized the e-auction of both parking sites but contractors had given highest bid and then refused to take the contract by saying that he gave highest bid by mistake. The officials then cancelled the auction process and decided to organize it again. The sources revealed that reserve price for Feroze Gandhi market could be around Rs 70 lakh and for I block Rs 4 lakh can be fixed.
Apart from this, the agenda to purchase new machinery will be discussed along with a few routine works. Last week also a meeting had happened but Mayor' health had deteriorated due to which the supplementary agenda could not be discussed and it was decided to conduct a meeting again on Monday.
