Political leaders, including chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, on Saturday praised the efforts and dedication of Indian Space Research Organisation (
Isro)
scientists and urged them not to be disheartened by the
Chandrayaan-2 setback.
Isro lost communication with the lander of Chandrayaan-2 when it was to make a soft landing, 2.1km from the lunar surface.
Palaniswami, in a statement, applauded Isro chairman K Sivan and its scientists for their efforts to land Chandrayaan-2 on the south pole of moon, so far not attempted by any country. “People have immense faith in Isro scientists and engineers that they will bring more success. With new hope and resolve, I extend my wishes on my behalf and the people of TN to the scientists,” said the chief minister.

O Panneerselvam, in a statement, applauded the untiring efforts of Sivan and his team on behalf of the people of Tamil Nadu and urged the scientists to turn the obstacle faced during the landing of Chandrayaan-2 into a stepping stone towards success and create history by accomplishing the mission.

Stalin also hailed the efforts of the Isro scientists. “Thank You Team @isro for inspiring a billion people to look towards outer space and place our faith in the power of science and technology. We are proud of our scientists for taking us farther than before #Chandrayaan2,” Stalin tweeted,
MNM chief Kamal Haasan on his official twitter handle said, “This does not tantamount to failure. In research and development, there will be a learning curve. This is that precious learning moment. We will soon be on the Moon, Thanks to #ISRO. The nation believes and applauds ISRO.”
PMK leader S Ramadoss and his son Anbumani Ramadoss also appreciated Isro. S Ramadoss, on his twitter handle, said the loss of communication with Chandrayaan-2 was temporary. “The efforts of the scientists of Chandrayaan 2 mission were applaudable. Soon, they will taste victory.” Anbumani, in a statement, said that it was a temporary setback for the Isro scientists and added thatthey would soon accomplish the mission. He also congratulated their efforts and hard work.
