PUNE: Pune crime branch on Saturday arrested a criminal on the police records for
violating externment order. The suspect has 11 cases serious offences registered against him with the Kothrud and
Deccan Gymkhana police.
A crime branch team led by senior inspector Rajendra Mokashi took the suspect Nitin Ramdas Sanas (28) from Athavale Chowk on Law college road on a tip-off. Sanas, a resident of Sutardara in Kothrud was externed from the city limits on November 27, 2018 for the period of two years by deputy commissioner of police (zone-III).
Sub-inspector of the crime branch Sanjay Gaikwad said that during the period of externment the suspet Sanas was involved in a case of murder attempt registered with the Deccan Gymkhana police.
Gaikwad said that on July 8, Sanas and his five accomplices had assaulted 23-year-old Jaydeep Jori wth sharp weapons following an old rivalry. Sanas was on the run since then. “We got a tip-off that Sanas would be coming on the Law college Road. We laid a trap and took him into custody,” Gaikwad said.
He said that Sanas has 10 cases including murder, murder attempt, body offences, rioting and extortion with the Kothrud police and one case of murder attempt with the Deccan Gymkhana police.
The investigating team comprised sub-inspector Kiran Adagale, police constables Anil Shinde, Ramdas Gonate, Atul Sathe and Sandip Rathod.
