cameras for the purpose.
Until now, in the tricity, only Chandigarh Police uses bodyworn cameras. With the help of their 103 body cameras, facts are recorded on the spot for their seniors to supervise the conduct of staff on the ground.
The six
body-worn cameras will be given to the traffic police at six prominent places in Panchkula, where cops face difficultiesin issuing challans and maintaining law and order. According to senior
Panchkula police officials, the body-worn cameras will help both police personnel and public.
The device will help record facts on the ground, as sometimes people tend to misbehave with the policemen, while there have also been complaints of policemen misbehaving with the people at check-posts, during protests and at accident sites, said police officials.
These cameras, no bigger than a common mobile phone, will be attached near the chest and shoulders of policemen. They will be able to click highquality photographs, record sound and capture high-definition videos. Depending on the requirement, more such cameras will be procured, they said.
