Spurs, PSG still keen on Dybala

2019-09-08 15:35

Cape Town - Tottenham have not given up hope of signing Paulo Dybala in the January transfer window, but will face strong competition for his services.

Spurs were in the hunt to sign the Argentina international during the summer, but the deal was complicated to say the least and collapsed before the deadline, leaving boss Mauricio Pochettino empty-handed.

The striker still had a chance to get fixed up with another club as the European window remained open for another few weeks, but again it failed to materialise and he ended up stay with the Bianconeri.

However, it remains to be seen how long he will remain at the Allianz Stadium for as the Old Lady are happy to let him move on, as they showed throughout the summer when attempting to cash in.

Reports now claim that Tottenham will be back in for him but again trying to get him on board will be far from easy.

Not only will Tottenham have to overcome the issues that caused the move collapse in the first place, but they will also have to battle with Paris Saint-Germain for his signature.

PSG see him as the perfect replacement for Neymar and would have swooped to sign him in the summer had they been able to move the Brazilian on.

They were unable to do that of course, but if Neymar goes in January they will make another attempt. Even if Neymar stays, it has been suggested PSG will look to take him on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a permanent deal at the end of the term.

Tottenham would have to move quickly, but it has been suggested they are confident of overcoming issues with image rights etc on this occasion to get the deal over the line.

Manchester United have also been linked in the past and there is a chance they could also re-enter the race.
