VISAKHAPATNAM: In a shocking incident that came to light recently, a 35-year-old man has been found to be allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter for over two years.
The heinous crime came to light after the man’s wife caught him in the middle of the act a few days ago. Subsequently, she approached the Chintapalli police on Saturday night. The family is a resident of a tribal hamlet in the Kitumala panchayat area in Chintapalli mandal in Visakhapatnam Agency.
Following the complaint, a case has been registered against the accused who is now at large.
The
rape survivor is a student of standard eight at a government-run residential high school. She informed the cops that her father had forced himself on her and had physically abused her a number of times over the past two years. The survivor is the eldest of three children that the couple had.
According to the police, the accused— the girl’s father works as a daily wage labourer and is an alcoholic. A couple of year’s ago, the girl’s mother had left for her parents’ home following a fight with her husband. The mother had returned to the house recently.
Cops said that taking advantage of the fact that his wife was away, the accused would bring his elder daughter home from school on weekends and would rape her. They said that this had continued for nearly two years.
This time, the accused had brought his daughter from school a week ago. A couple of days ago, the girl’s mother and her two other children had gone out to the farm field.
When they returned home in the evening, the mother was shocked to find her husband in a compromising position with their elder daughter. Later, the survivor narrated her ordeal to her mother about how her father had been abusing her from the last two years.
Speaking to TOI, ASP (Chintapalli), S Satish Kumar said, “Based on the complaint from the girl and her mother, we have registered a case against the girl’s father under sections 354 and 376 of the IPC and various sections under the
POCSO Act. The girl said that her father had raped her repeatedly for the last two years and had also told her to keep mum all this while.”
“We have formed a team to nab the accused and have admitted the girl at KG Hospital in Vizag for medical examination,” Satish Kumar added.
