G Sudhakaran ordered the suspension of an official from the Kerala State Construction Corporation Limited for abstaining from duty without authorisation.
The minister suspended the assistant executive
engineer and initiated action against three other officials on the basis of the report of deputy chief engineer (vigilance). The minister had asked the chief engineer to look into the matter after several complaints came from various corners that several officials were abstaining from duty without any reason or authorisation. In the quick inspection conducted by the deputy chief engineer in the corporation’s office on August 29, it was found that deputy GM Jumailath, engineering assistant grade-2 Jithesh, Smitha Haridas and contract employee Siji K were not present on duty.
The minister on Thursday ordered reduction in pension of former roads section assistant engineer of Kottayam E V John by Rs 500 for five years after it was found that John had released Rs 1,50,733 to the contractor who took up the metalling work of a stretch in Thiruvarppu- Kumarakom section even when work was not done.
