Panchkula: Mid-day meal items stolen from school

PANCHKULA: Miscreants stole mid-day meal items from a government school in Raipur Rani on Friday evening in the third such theft this year.
Kamlesh Devi, incharge of anganwadi workers at Bagwali, Raipur Rani, said she got a call from an employee at the school about the theft She said the worker found the lock of the kitchen broken on Friday morning and 20kg sugar, 15kg rice, 25kg refined oil, a sack full of wheat, one gas cylinder and a battery missing.

The village sarpanch was called to the spot. Sarpanch called up the cops and Kamlesh lodged a written complaint. Police registered a case under sections 457 (lurking housetrespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) and 380 (theft in dwelling house) of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) at the Raipur Rani police station.
On May 21, 250kg wheat, 50kg rice, 50kg sugar, a gas cylinder and other kitchen equipment were stolen from a government school in Raipur Rani. Similarly, on April 20, unknown persons stole 250 kg mid-day meal items from a government school after breaking the locks of the kitchen.
