RAJKOT: Notorious
builder Kamlesh Ramani, who has a series of offences registered against him, was sent under Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act (
PASA) on Saturday after he was
caught drunk from a flat with a woman in Rajkot on Friday night.
“We had received a tip-off that Ramani was consuming alcohol at Tulip Purple Apartments on Mota Mawa Road, following which we raided the flat and caught him. We
booked him under Prohibition Act and seized two cellphones worth Rs 40,000 from him,” said an official from Rajkot taluka police station.
As the woman found accompanying Ramani said she was Ramani’s friend and had come to meet him, she was let off. On Saturday, Rajkot police commissioner Manoj Agrawal issued a PASA warrant against him, ordering that he be sent to Vadodara Central Jail.
Ramani was booked on August 20 on the charges of attempt to murder after he opened fire at his former driver on University Road.
Police sources said that Ramani has at least 18 offences registered against him. Besides complaint of rape, majority of the other complaints pertain to
land grabbing and criminal intimidation.
