Rajkot: Government doctor among 6 arrested in fake notes racket

RAJKOT: The Bhavnagar special operation group (SOG) arrested six persons from the city Bhavnagar and Chotila for running a fake currency printing and circulation racket.
A total of 13 counterfeit currency notes of Rs 2,000 denomination and 120 fake notes of Rs 500 were seized from them. Among those arrested was a government doctor Rakesh Nagotha, who was working with the Khutwada public health centre (PHC).
Along with Nagotha, SOG sleuths arrested Chirag Makwana, Bhagat Gudala, Paresh Solanki, Pratik Nakum and Jasha Koli.
“We had received tip-off that Makwana would come to Mota Khutwada village to circulate counterfeit currency, following which we kept a watch at a canal . We caught Makwana along with Nagotha and Gudala, who had come to collect the fake notes,” said S N Barot, inspector with Bhavnagar special operation group.

Makwana, Dr Nagotha and Gudala led the cops to the den of Solanki, Nakum and Koli where the fake currency notes were printed in Dhokalva village.
“We have seized 120 counterfeit currency notes of Rs 500 denomination, papers used for printing notes and a printer from the possession of Solanki, Nakum and Koli,” added Barot.
