NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Chandni Chowk Alka Lamba on Friday joined Congress in presence of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi. Earlier in the day,
Lamba resigned from the primary membership
of the party on Twitter and urged AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal to accept her resignation. The development comes a few days after Lamba had a meeting with the Congress chief at the latter's residence.
"The time has come to say "Good Bye" to AAP and to resign from the primary membership of the party. The past 6 years journey was a great learning for me. Thanks to all," Lamba tweeted and later in a tweet urged Kejriwal to accept it as official resignation.

"ArvindKejriwal Ji, your spokespersons asked me as per your desire, with full arrogance that the party will accept my resignation even on the Twitter. So please kindly accept my resignation from the primary membership of the Aam Aadmi Party," she stated and claimed that AAP is now a "Khas Aadmi Party".

Lamba's relationship with party witnessed several flashpoints in past few months which also motivated her to conduct a public referendum in her constituency to find out whether she should resign or continue in AAP. As per public mood she chose to continue to be in AAP, though AAP leaders claimed her.
