GREATER NOIDA: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has undertaken a rural development project for which it will provide sewer and water connections in several areas.
On Thursday, the GNIDA set deadline of March 31, 2020, to connect 57 villages to the main sewer and water lines, including the sewage treatment plant (STP) of the Greater Noida.
It also plans to develop 82 villages in its area in the current financial year, 2019-20, and provide those with sewer and water connections.
It has also been decided that while 50% of homes in each village would be connected to sewer and water connections in the first phase, about 60 villages will get water connection in 2019-20. Earlier, the GNIDA had provided water connections to about 22 villages.

Scientific ways of cleaning sewers were also reviewed and the GNIDA will provide all safety gears to its sanitation workers at the earliest. Monthly health check-ups of the workers would also be conducted. An awareness drive for villages would be conducted through nukkad nataks (street plays).
Builders were instructed to clear their water dues. Another meeting is scheduled for Friday with industry, institutional and commercial allottees regarding clearing of dues. They have been directed to avail of the one -time settlement scheme (OTS). “If the dues are not cleared, strict action would be taken against defaulters,” said Narendra Bhooshan, CEO, GNIDA.
