Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi's speech on UK PM storms internet

JALANDHAR: With his speech attacking British PM Boris Johnson, UK’s first turbaned Sikh MP Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi has shot into prominence on global stage. The speech has become an internet sensation.
Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn shared it on his Twitter handle and Facebook page on Wednesday saying, “Everyone should watch this incredibly powerful moment”. In next 24 hours, it had clocked four million views on his twitter handle and 3.5 million views on FB page. From the FB page it was shared 1,00,000 times and fetched 7,200 comments, while it was retweeted 81,000 times and gathered over 2,35,000 likes.

From Dhesi’s own Twitter handle, the short video clip, was retweeted over 15,600 times, with over 3,400 replies and over 60,000 likes.
When TOI called him on Thursday evening, Dhesi said, “I feel touched by the response to the speech. Response is overwhelming from people across the UK and other parts of the world. I am glad that I could become a voice for those women who were scapegoated by the Prime Minister in his pursuit for power. We need to stand in solidarity whenever required regardless of background, colour or creed.”
