On 1 September, Channel24 flew to London to speak to the director and cast of much-anticipated sequel, It: Chapter 2. Leandra Engelbrecht sits down with James McAvoy who plays the older Bill Denbrough to find out more about what went on behind-the-scenes.

Cape Town – It's safe to say that It: Chapter Two is one of the most anticipated horror movies of the year.

The sequel to the 2017 film, IT takes place 27 years after the events of the first movie with The Losers all grown up. They have to return to Derry to have a final showdown with Pennywise.

James McAvoy plays older Bill Denbrough, the actor who instilled fear as the menacing The Beast in Split and Glass is now the haunted.

In the interview, James shared how he prepared to play older Bill, how the older cast bonded to create similar chemistry the younger cast had and Bill Skarsgard's transformation into Pennywise.

The 40-year-old actor has high praise for his co-star, saying Bill is an excellent actor.

"He is putting himself through the wringer; at the end of a take, he is a mess. He's really putting so much into it, it's not just all that make-up, and the CGI and the crazy things he can do with his eyes. He is racking his body, he is really sweating blood," says James.

It: Chapter Two releases in SA cinemas on Friday, 6 September.

*Disclaimer: Channel24's trip to London was sponsored by Warner Bros.
