Pedantic fun police are set to spoil the party ahead of a crunch NRL game by BANNING punters from buying more than two beers

  • Two beer limit could be enforced during West Tigers and Cronulla Sharks clash
  • The two teams will clash at a sold-out Leichhardt Oval on Sunday afternoon
  • Normally patrons are allowed to buy four beers at the popular sporting venue
  • Though a restriction could be brought in and a decision made on game day

A two-beer limit could be put in place during one of the largest rugby league matches of the season.

More than 18,500 spectators are expected to fill the stands to watch the West Tigers go head to head against Cronulla Sharks at Leichhardt Oval, in Sydney's inner west, on Sunday.

But licensing police have warned it could be a very sobering match as it intends to limit the number of drinks available to spectators.

The committee will decide on the day whether patrons will only be able to buy two drinks at a time instead of the usual four drink policy.

The restriction has sparked concerns more people will be forced to queue at the bar and lead to overcrowding.

Fox Sports reported The West Tigers and Inner West Council fear the suburban sized venue simply could not accommodate for the extra people lining up for a beverage.

Extra catering and security have already been organised to cater for the large crowd.

Daily Mail Australia contacted the Inner West Council mayor for comment.

The Tigers will clash against the Sharks to a sold-out crowd to determine which team will progress to the first week of the finals.
