CHENNAI: A 38-year-old woman was found dead with her throat slit at Salavakkam near Chengalpet on Thursday night.
The murdered woman has been identified as J Gomathy of Kavi Thandalam village near Salavakkam.
On Thursday morning, Gomathy, her mother-in-law, father-in-law and two sisters-in-law went to a nearby hillock to collect firewood while her husband, Jayapaul, went for work. Jayapaul is private bus driver. The couple’s daughter and two sons went to school.
Gomathy and her in-laws returned home in the afternoon. She again went to the hillock as she had left behind one more bundle of firewood. However, she didn’t never return home after that.
Later, Jayapaul and others went in search of her and found her body.
Police said the woman had sustained a deep cut on her throat and died of excessive blood loss. Her jewellery was intact.
Police formed special teams to nab the murderer.
