JAISALMER: A
police inspector was killed and his wife and driver injured when the car they were travelling in collided with an Army truck on NH-11 near
Dholia village under
Lathi police station area in Jaisalmer on Thursday.
According to police, inspector Bhagwati Singh Charan (53), who was deployed in Churu, died on the spot, while his wife Swati (48) and driver were seriously injured. Both have been referred to Jodhpur.
Lathi police and Army officers inspected the accident spot and launched an investigation. Police said, Charan along with his wife Swati Kanwar had gone for darshan at Shaktipeeth Maa Temda Rai temple in Jaisalmer in his car. They were returning to Bikaner when an Army truck collided with their car near Ganga ki Dhani. Both the vehicles, running on high speed, suffered heavy damage in the collision. Locals pulled out those trapped in the car. Charan had died by then.
