VADODARA: A couple from Madhya Pradesh was arrested on Thursday for abandoning their newly born girl child at SSG Hospital in April.
Raopura police nabbed Sunil Mavi and wife, Pravina, from Rajkot. Police said that the couple had could not be traced as they had switched off their mobile phone. “We had put their phone number under surveillance. As soon as they switched on the phone, their location was traced to Rajkot,” said cops. On reaching Rajkot, cops went through several CCTV footage before nabbing the duo.
During interrogation, they said the baby had some impairment and were not sure whether she would survive or not. So they fled from the hospital.
