PUNE: The process to acquire 35 acres land for expansion of the Pune airport based at Lohegaon should be expedited as soon as the private party hands over the land, said Divisional Commissioner Deepak Mhaisekar.

Regarding the acquisition of the required space for the Pune airport, a meeting was held at the Divisional Commissionerate. The meeting was chaired by Mhaisekar.

He said, “A decision regarding the land parcel required by the authority will be taken by Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao. He should take urgent decisions. Those who are responsible for transfer of the land to the government should obtain the consent of the landlord and the compensation should be given to the concerned as soon as possible at the prevailing rate.”

Rao, District Collector Nawal Kishore Ram, Inspector General of Registration Anil Kawade, and Pune Airport Director Ajay Kumar were also present. Two landowners were also present. “The meeting ended on a positive note. We are hopeful about getting the land soon,” said Ajay Kumar.
