Chennai:
Criticising further the foreign trip of the Chief Minister, Stalin said people would have been happier if the Chief Minister had gone abroad with relevant officials. “However 10 ministers have gone with him and eight more are to go. The Tamil Nadu Ministry has become a tourism ministry,” he said while speaking at a marriage function of a party functionary in Tirupur district.
Moreover, the DMK leader said that the Chief Minister and the Ministers have taken up the foreign trip only to cover up issues and divert the attention of people from their failures. Stalin also urged the state government to release a white paper declaring when and where 220 investors have proposed to invest in Tamil Nadu.
“The people of Tamil Nadu will get a big relief, once DMK repeats its victory in the Assembly polls like in Parliamentary elections,” he said.
Referring to the economic slowdown in the country, Stalin said that the slow growth rate has been reflected in the industrial sector in Coimbatore and Tirupur districts.
“Industries in Coimbatore and Tirupur are being closed and workers are losing jobs. But then the Chief Minister has gone on a trip abroad,” he remarked.
Referring to BJP leader CP Radhakrishnan’s remarks that Stalin has defeated the BJP in the Parliamentary polls, Stalin said that it was not he, but the people who defeated the BJP.

“Thereafter, DMK can’t be defeated for the next 25 years,” he said. Taking a veiled dig at the BJP, the DMK leader said that his party has been voicing its opposition to plans of the Centre to destroy Tamil language and community.
“The DMK MPs gave fitting reply against forcing Hindi upon us by taking oath in Tamil in the Parliament,” he said. Stalin also declared that the DMK had achieved a great victory in the recent by-polls.
Senior DMK leaders, M Kannappan, TR Baalu, A Raja and Pongalur N Palanisamy were among those others who took part in the function.
State rapped for cancelling party event, expelling APSC student
The DMK has slammed the state government for denying permission to books review meet pertaining to its founder CN Annadurai and former president M Karunanidhi at Arani. The party also condemned the expulsion of a student belonging to the Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle (APSC) from the Madras University in violation of the Constitutionally guaranteed fundamental rights.
Though the owner of the hall has the right to deny permission, the people were curious to know the mystery behind a scheduled programme for which arrangements were being made was denied permission, DMK president MK Stalin said in a statement on Thursday.
Alleging that the ruling AIADMK was granting permission to events of communal and fascist groups and providing extraordinary security arrangements for the same of late, Stalin said, “On the contrary, events related to Dravidam, social justice, socialism and Tamil sentiments were being denied permission on flimsy reasons.” Apart from mounting pressure on such private events, it has started infiltrating educational institutions, the DMK president added, before referring to the reported denial of admission to a post graduate student of philosophy department of Madras University. Reports suggest that he has been expelled owing to pressure from communal groups mainly because of his affiliation towards APSC, Stalin who is also the Leader of Opposition remarked. He condemned the abuse of power in expelling the student in violation of the fundamental right to speech and education guaranteed to him by the Constitution and democracy. Advising the ruling AIADMK to mend its ways, Stalin cautioned that the people of the state would reform them in a fitting manner if the government does not do on its own.
