Snake found in Punjabi University hostel, students kill it

Punjabi University
PATIALA: Panic continued to loom in the boys' hostel of Punjabi University as the students killed a large snake that had entered their hostel on Wednesday night. The boys remained alert after rumours spread that the hostel was being plagued by some more snakes.
Pictures of the killed snake circulated over social media groups after the hostel students shared them. They claimed that one of the hostel students noticed the snake crossing his feet and entering the bathroom.
After that, a number of alarmed students reached the F-block of the university's Shaheed Bhagat Singh hostel.

Punjab Radical Students Union member Rashpinder Singh said: "Some students raised an alarm about a snake entering the hostel. There was no electricity in the hostel at that time, so we used mobile torches to look for it. The snake was found inside the washroom and was killed by the students. This happened because the university authorities failed to cut bushes and long grass behind the hostel despite our frequent requests as there are a number of rats and snakes there. The students are living in panic after the incident. We have come here to study, not to be bitten by poisonous snakes."
Hostel warden Balwinder Ram said: "The snake was killed in the washroom and now there is no snake." He refused to answer when asked about the students' request for clean grounds.
