Vidya Pratishthan enter quarters

Pune: Vidya Pratishthan, Magarpatta beat Nagarvala Day School 2-1 in the pre-quarterfinals of the Under-14 category of the Zilla Parishad football tournament in progress at Dobarwadi on Thursday.

Ayush Kavade scored the first goal in the 8th minute while Avkan Shaikh scored the second in the 15th minute for Vidya Pratishthan. Meanwhile Azlan Sayyed scored the lone goal for Nagarvala in the 19th minute.

In another match, St Vincent’s High School defeated Vikhe Patil Memorial School 3-0 to enter the quarterfinals.

Kevin Chatterjee scored a brace in the 8th and 19h minutes while Farish Shaikh added one goal to the tally in the 27th minute.

In another pre-quarterfinal match, Vibgyor NIBM beat The Bishop’s School, Kalyaninagar 3-2 in the tie-breaker after no goals were scored at regulation time. Evan Rosario, Hamza Quershi and Nihar Paranjape scored for Vibgyor while Soham Mehta and Jasbir Dhillon scored for Bishop’s.

Later, Army Public School, Khadki defeated JN Petit Technical School 2-1 in the tie-breaker after no goals were scored till regulation time. Karan and Harsh Yadav scored for Army Public School and Shashikant Shinde scored for JN Petit.

Earlier in the fourth round Vidya Pratishthan defeated Hutchings School 2-1 while Nagarvala Day School defeated Pune Police Public School 4-0.
