Audi Confirms New RS7 Sportback For Frankfurt Motor Show

Audi has announced that it will be hosting two world debuts at the Frankfurt Motor Show, including the all-new RS7 Sportback which will premiere on September 10 alongside the already announced AI:TRAIL concept car.

The new Audi RS7 Sportback will use the same oily bits with the recently revealed RS6 Avant, meaning it will feature a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 producing 592 HP (600 PS) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque and featuring a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.

Power will of course go to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission to a beefier Quattro system which should enable the new RS7 Sportback to launch from a standstill pretty impressively.

So far we’ve only seen camouflaged test cars of the new RS7 Sportback but with the RS6 Avant now being officially out, we can imagine pretty accurately what it will look like, courtesy of course of a rendering we showed you last month.

Audi Sport’s two latest models will most likely share the same front fascia, which includes an all-new bumper and wider fenders alongside the usual bigger wheels, deeper side skirts and more aggressive rear. A set of big oval exhaust tips will also be present.

Performance will be similar to that of the new 2020 RS6, which is capable of running the 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.6 seconds and hit a limited 155 mph (250 km/h). The chassis features a specially-adapted air suspension, as well as a sport differential on the rear axle to better distribute the torque between the wheels.

Aside from the all-new RS7 Sportback, Audi’s presence in Frankfurt will include the 2020 RS6 Avant, the facelifted A4 and Q7, the new A1 Citycarver and Q3 Sportback as well as the aforementioned AI:TRAIL concept car.
