KOLKATA: The high court on Thursday directed actor
Shah Rukh Khan to file an affidavit stating his involvement with Indian Institute of Planning and Management (
IIPM) within two weeks after the Puja vacation.
Justice Debangsu Basak also directed advocate Asim Ganguly, representing the state government, to file an affidavit on why the court shouldn't order a CBI probe into alleged wrongdoings by the institute.
Three students, through counsel Dipanjan Dutta, had alleged that they would receive no degrees from IIPM despite having paid large sums of money. Claiming that they had been lured into joining the institute by Khan, who was reportedly its brand ambassador, they sought respite from banks' pressure for repayment of education loans.
Khan's counsel Debnath Ghosh said Khan was not
IIPM's brand ambassador, but had only appeared in a few advertisements.
