UP: Kashmir students hold protest in AMU

AGRA: Over 50 Kashmiri students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on Thursday took out a protest march in the campus, expressing anger over continuation of a blackout on communication in the valley even after a month of scrapping Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Aggrieved students claimed that the cutting off communication in the valley has left them unconnected with their families and they don’t know how they are living under siege of security forces. “We can only talk to them when they give us a call from STD booths,” said one of the protesting students.
Protestors raised slogans, “Aawaz do hum ek hai”, “Jis Kashmir Ko Khoon se seecha, woh Kashmir humara hai”. They demanded that the government should restore communication with the valley immediately.
Addressing the gathering, a female student said that whatever happened in Kashmir can now happen with any other state. She urged people to stand with Kashmiri girls and support them against the “illogical” comments that have been made by various state ministers following the scrapping of article 370.
Around 1,000 students from Jammu and Kashmir are studying in the university and there are many Kashmiri teachers as well, said AMU officials.

Spokesperson of the university, Shafey Kidwai said, no permission was taken by students for the protest march. He said, they have violated the rules of the university and action will be taken against them:
Last month, over 250 Kashmiri students had boycotted the lunch invite for Eid-ul-Azha from the union government. In a statement then, the Kashmiri student had said that they were dismayed by the invite, which had political connotation and was aimed to rub salts on their wounds.
