Chowk Bazar police on Tuesday booked Rohit Balar, Dinesh Maniya and Khoda Moradiya, partners in a construction firm for alleged cheating the complainant Nanji Savani (47), a stationary businessman
The accused allegedly collected Rs 93,750 as GST from Savani but did not pay it to the government. The accused were booked for criminal breach of trust, cheating and other sections under Indian Penal Code.
According to police, Savani was searching for a house last year when he came across Shukan Shree Apartment on Dabholi-Jahangirpura Bridge Link Road. He purchased an third floor apartment for Rs 18.75 lakh and made payment through cheque.
Later the developers demanded Rs 93,750 as GST and Savani paid it in March this year. He was given a chit for the payment but not a proper receipt.
After few days the accused took the chit back but did not give any receipt, Savani alleged. Despite several reminders the accused did not give the receipt after which Savani approached police. Savani had demanded the receipt for taxation purpose, police informed.
“The accused did not pay GST despite collecting the sum from the flat owner. Police are yet to make any arrest and are collecting evidences,” said a police officer of Chowk Bazaar police station.
