Manchester United trio wanted by Juventus

2019-09-05 09:50

Cape Town - Italian giants Juventus are reportedly tracking Manchester United trio David de Gea, Eric Bailly, and Nemanja Matic ahead of the January transfer window.

The transfer window may have closed but that is not stopping speculation over what will happen in January when it reopens, and reports are rife suggesting all three players could be heading to Turin.

The future of De Gea has been in the spotlight for years and he is never too far away from the transfer gossip columns. He came close to joining Real Madrid a couple of seasons ago but a deal collapsed at the last minute and he has remained at Old Trafford ever since.

However, it has been suggested that United could consider selling as the clock ticks on his current contract and if they are to claw back any cash, January will be the time to sell.

The Spaniard is free to talk to clubs in January and will be available on a free transfer unless United can convince him to sign a new deal. It has been a difficult start to the season for De Gea, and there are suggestions his time with United is coming to an end.

Real now have Thibaut Courtois as their number one so that ship appears to have sailed. The chance of a move to Juve is sure to appeal though.

Bailly has also emerged as a target for Juve as they look to sign a replacement for Giorgio Chiellini, who is facing six months on the sidelines with ruptured knee ligaments.

The United defender is currently out injured himself but should be back fit before the January transfer window opens, allowing Juventus to get him on board. Bailly’s chances will be limited with United following the arrival of Harry Maguire and again, a move to Turin is sure to appeal.

Matic has insisted there is no issue between him and boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but his lack of game time will be a problem if things do not improve after the international break.

The Serbian is now behind Scott McTominay in the pecking order at United and has played a bit-part role since the new season got underway.

Solskjaer is slowly but surely reshaping his United squad as he looks to put his stamp on it, and there is a good chance all three players will be allowed to move on if Juve do come knocking.
