PATNA: The
railways has decided to cancel altogether 28 mail and express trains either originating from or passing through the jurisdiction of the
East Central Railway (ECR) from September 5 to
October 20.
According to ECR’s chief public relations officer (CPRO) Rajesh Kumar, the step has been taken due to non-interlocking (NI) work to be carried out at the Tundla Junction from the point of view of track safety.
“The railways has cancelled the Ranchi-Ajmer Express (18631/18632) and Rajendra Nagar Terminal-Ajmer Express (12395/12396) from September 11 to October 19, the Muzaffarpur-Ahmedabad Express (15269/15270) from September 5 to October 20 and the Malda Town-Delhi Express (13413/13414, 13483/13484) from September 28 to October 11,” Kumar told this newspaper on Wednesday.
Similarly, the Sitamarhi-Anand Vihar Express (14005/14006) has been cancelled from September 28 to October 11 and the Jaynagar-New Delhi Express (12561/ 12562) as well as the Guwahati-New Delhi Express (12501/12502) from October 19 to 20. The Puri-Anand Vihar Express (12815/12816) will remain cancelled on October 19 and 21.
The CPRO said, “The railways has also cancelled the Kamakhya-Gandhidham Express (15667/15668) on October 16 and 19, the Anand Vihar Terminal-Puri Express (12875/12876) on October 20, the Anand Vihar-Kamakhya Express (12505/12506) on October 18 and 20 and the Kalka-Howrah Express (12311/12312) as well as the Gaya-New Delhi Express (12397/12398) on October 19 and 20.”
Besides, the routes of at least 23 mail and express trains will be diverted due to the NI work. While the Muzaffarpur-Surat Express (19053/19054) will be diverted via the Jhansi-Orai-Bhimsen-Kanpur route from September 8 to October 13, the Bandra-Muzaffarpur Express (19037/19038, 19039/19040) will be diverted via the Bina-Agra Cantonment-Jhansi-Bhimsen-Kanpur route from September 8 to October 19.
“The Patna-Kota Express (13237/13239, 13238/13240) will be diverted via the Kanpur-Kasganj-Mathura-Achhnera route from September 8 to October 19 and the Sealdah-Ajmer Express (12987/12988) via the Kanpur-Etawah-Agra Cantonment-Bandikui route from September 8 to October 20,” the CPRO said.
Likewise, the Katihar-Amritsar Express (15707/15708) will run via the Lucknow-Sitapur City-Moradabad-Delhi route. Several other pairs of passenger trains have been diverted via the Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Junction-Varanasi-Lucknow-Moradabad-Gaziabad route during the NI work period.
The railways has also decided to short-terminate the Howrah-Sri Ganganagar Udyan Abha Toofan Express (13007/13008) at the Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Junction from September 8 to October 20.
“At least eight other passenger trains, including the Muzaffarpur-Ahmedabad Express (15269), Muzaffarpur-Surat Express (19054) and Gorakhpur-Okha Express (15045) will run with controlled speed and almost 75 minutes behind their schedules during the period,” the CPRO said.
