‘BJP pre-poll survey is manipulated’

Nagpur: Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly Vijay Wadettiwar has come down heavily on the BJP over the pre-poll survey reportedly conducted by the ruling party. The BJP has claimed that along with its allies Shiv Sena, RSP, RPI and others, it would sweep the ensuing state Assembly polls by winning 229 seats in the 288-member House.
“This tactics of the BJP is nothing new. By making tall claims through manipulated ‘surveys’ before elections, it openly tries to influence the public and mislead the voters. The BJP has mastered this art since 2014 in every election,” said Wadettiwar.
“The BJP is a master at coming out with tailored surveys as per its choice and then selectively leaking it to the media. It is a set pattern. If the BJP is confident of a massive win and getting a second term, why is the party not ready to shift to voting by ballot papers instead of EVMs that are also tinkered,” Wadettiwar stated in a press release.
“If the BJP thinks that by manipulating voters through such fake surveys it could win elections, the government should wind up the office of the Election Commission. The BJP should go forward and declare itself winners without elections,” said the Congress MLA from Brahmapuri.
Wadettiwar also wondered why the BJP and the Shiv Sena undertook Mahajanadesh and Jan ashirwad yatras respectively if they were so confident and sure of the victory even before the poll process began. “In the past, such surveys have proved to be wrong,” he said.

He claimed that the BJP survey was just a deception to divert attention of the people from the economic disaster that the BJP-Sena alliance has pushed into.
“The perilous state of the economy is clearly reflected in the 15th Finance Commission report,” said Wadettiwar, who alleged that every section of the society, be it traders, businessmen, students, farmers, youth, and women were angry with the Fadnavis government and were looking for the first opportunity to throw it out of power.
