Prior to the alleged killer's arrest, Forrest Gamble, who runs a clothing brand with Ben, warned: 'Hope the cops find you first'.

Jarvis Farrier, 18, was charged with one count of murder on Thursday afternoon and has asked to be held in protective custody as he fears for his safety.

The former Miami State High School student went to Coomera Police Station last night but did not front Southport Magistrates Court to face his charge.

Following Ben's threats, police spoke to him and warned him against taking matters into his own hands.

'He is know to us, he's well-known to the Gold Coast community,' acting Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith told Courier Mail.

'We have no concerns that he's going to be taking the law into his own hands. I mean, if he even thinks about that, there’s going to be consequences.'

On Wednesday night, emergency crews rushed to the Varisty Lakes park after reports of a knife attack before Harrison was pronounced dead at the scene.

Queensland Police will allege that Geppert died after two groups of young men got in a fight near Frascott Park in Varsity Lakes on Wednesday evening.

'It will be further alleged a man exited one of the vehicles and stabbed a 17-year-old Tallebudgera boy in the back while he was being assaulted, resulting in fatal injuries,' a police statement said.

Supt Smith is urging teenagers who may have been involved to give their version of what happened 'before it gets diluted'.

He also said there were no safety concerns for the public as people are not being 'attacked at random'.

Farrier's lawyer, Dan Rawlings, told the Gold Coast Bulletin his client's recommendation for protective custody was 'due to safety concerns'.

Mr Rawlings did not elaborate on his reasons and also said it wasn't necessary for Farrier to have appeared in court.

Magistrate Joan White agreed to recommend protective custody for Farrier to Queensland Corrective Services.

Several loved ones paid tribute to Harrison after learning of his death.

Geppert's ex-girlfriend, Kahlia Kingi, told Daily Mail Australia the boy was 'too pure of heart for this cruel world.'

Miss Kingi - who dated Harry for a few years and went to school with him - joined the tributes in a statement to Daily Mail Australia.

'Words can't describe the pain I'm feeling right now,' she said. 'Harry you were such a big part of my life and so many others.

'You had such a big beautiful heart too pure for this cruel world I'm never going to forget your cheeky smile and the happiness you brought me!!'

'Never below us, never on top always beside. Never forgotten! Rest easy and so much love.'

Supt Smith is still urging anyone who may have seen something suspicious to come forward.

'We are keen to talk to anyone who was in the area at the time. Particularly anyone who may have been walking their dog or cars going past with dashcams,' he told reporters on Wednesday evening.

'It is unclear at the point what the cause of death is but it certainly looks like it is suspicious.

'There's conflicting versions how he got there and where he came from. So at this point it would be too early to say what happened.'

Acting Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith told reporters they were seeking two vehicles where two men got out before assaulting Harrison.

Officers are interested in speaking to a group of about 'seven or eight males', believed to be aged 16-17.

A postmortum is likely to take place on Friday.

Farrier did not make an application for bail and the matter will return to the court on September 19.
