Sexual assault alleged after road rage incident

Ahmedabad: A 30-year-old woman filed a complaint of assault and molestation against a man . In her complaint she stated that the accused thrashed her husband and molested her when on August 31.
In her FIR filed with the Chandkheda police, the woman, who works as a laboratory assistant at a private university on SG road, said that she along with her husband and her sister-in-law had gone for shopping when the incident took place.
“When my husband was driving his car on Visat-Gandhinagar highway, a bike-borne man tried to overtake the car, we all got scared as it was a close shave . Couple of seconds later, the man suddenly stopped his bike in front of our car and started abusing us,” states the complainant in her FIR.
The man allegedly kicked their car and pulled out complainant’s husband from the car.
“When my husband resisted , the man began abusing and thrashing my husband,” said the complainant.
“As I along with my sister-in-law tried to rescue my husband, the man assaulted us also. He, then molested me and threatened to rape me,” she added.
As the woman started screaming for help, people gathered there and rescued them. She further states that the man, who was later identified as Chintan Gupta, had filed a complaint of assault against the woman’s husband. When she was called by the police to record her statement, she filed the counter complaint against the man.
“As we were threatened by the man with dire consequences, we did not move any complaint against the man. But as I was asked to record my statement by the police, I filed my complaint against the man,” she said in her FIR. Chandkheda police have registered a case of assault and molestation against the man and began an investigation.
