In a statement issued here, the official stated that the quota of urea allotted to the State was mostly of imported variety and there was some delay in moving it from from the ports to stock points through the railway rakes. He explained that against the allocation of 2.2 lakh tonnes of urea for the month of August only 1.12 lakh tonnes was received by the State from the companies and along with 1.25 lakh tonnes of buffer stocks with TS-Markfed they were able to meet the demand.

The Centre has allotted 18 rakes of urea in the first week of September itself. The officials concerned were monitoring the situation every day ensuring the availability of urea as much as possible.
