Chief Secretary S.R. Mohanty has issued instructions to complete the work of repairing roads in rural and urban areas damaged due to excessive rains and flooding at many places in the state. The Chief Secretary said that the work of repairing roads should be started mandatorily between September 15 -20. To begin the repair work from September 15, the concerned departments should make necessary preparations after completing procedural action.
The Chief Secretary gave this instruction in a meeting held at the Mantralaya today.
The Chief Secretary said that due to excessive rains and floods, roads have been damaged in urban and rural areas at many places in the state. He said that all the concerned departments should start repair work immediately after assessing the roads damaged due to excessive rains and floods. The departments of Public Works, Panchayat and Rural Development and Urban Administration and Development prominently took part in the meeting.
Chief Secretary to conduct review himself The Chief Secretary said that surprise inspection will be conducted from time to time to ensure the commencement and completion of the repair work of damaged roads by the stipulated date. The Chief Secretary will also review the work from time to time.
Principal Secretary Public Works Malay Shrivastava, Secretary Rural Development Umakant Umrao, Principal Secretary Finance Manoj Govil, Secretary and Commissioner Urban Administration P. Narahari, Chief Engineer Public Works R.K. Mehra, Chief Engineer Urban Administration Prabhakant Katare and Chief Engineer Rural Development were present in the meeting.,
