The government has taken up with the British government the issue of anti-India demonstrations and vandalism of the Indian High Commission’s property in London by Pakistani diaspora groups.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in a statement on Wednesday, “We consider these incidents to be unacceptable and have strongly urged the Government of United Kingdom to take action against those involved”
India asked the British government to take the necessary steps to “ensure the normal functioning of our Mission and the safety and security of our personnel”.
Two people have been arrested after Pakistani diaspora along with Khalistanis launched a massive protest outside the High Commission in London on Tuesday and broke a windowpane of the Indian mission, drawing widespread condemnation.
The Indian mission tweeted, “Another violent protest outside the Indian High Commission in London today, 3 September 2019. Damage caused to the premises.” London Mayor Sadiq Khan reacted to the incident saying, “I utterly condemn this unacceptable behaviour and have raised this incident with Metropolitan Police to take action.”
