CHENNAI: The
Tamil Nadu government has changed the
Muharram holiday from September 10 to September 11.
A government order issued on Thursday quoted the
chief kazi as stating that the
moon was not sighted on the day it was supposed to be seen and so
Muharram would be observed on September 11 and not September 10. Based on his request, the holiday has been changed.
The holiday on September 11 would be under the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881, said the order.
