Senior govt official inspects development works in city

Coimbatore: District monitoring officer and secretary, municipal administration and water supply department, Harmander Singh, inspected the development and infrastructure works in the city on Wednesday.
Singh conducted a monitoring committee meeting at the collectorate. He reviewed and inspected reports on monsoon preparedness, presence of rainwater harvesting structures and ongoing highway projects among others. The government had introduced a lot of schemes keeping in mind opportunities for industrial growth in the district and agriculture prospects, he said.
“The official said that it is upto the tahsildars and block development officers to inspect villages, assess their requirements and receive complaints from the public on any of the facilities not functioning,” an official, who attended the meeting, said.
He later inspected the beautification works around Valankulan under the smart city project at a cost of Rs 48crore and also inspected the works at Ukkadam lake, and a park near Kurichi lake.
