AFP raids home of Commonwealth official

A search warrant was executed on a government official's home by the Australian Federal Police on Wednesday morning.

The AFP confirmed a "Commonwealth official" was the subject of the raid.

"The Australian Federal Police is executing a search warrant in the ACT suburb of Griffith," a spokeswoman said.

"This activity does not relate to any current or impending threat to the Australian community."

The raid comes after search warrants were executed on News Corp journalist Annika Smethurst and the Sydney headquarters of the ABC in June.
