K’taka Congress’ women’s wing chief slams BJP for misusing agencies

Mysuru: Charging the BJP with misusing investigation agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to target Congress leaders and further its political ambitions, Karnataka Pradesh Mahila Congress president and former Mysuru ZP president Pushpa Amarnath on Tuesday sought to remind the saffron party of having many leaders in its own ranks with many pending cases against their names.
Chief minister BS Yediyurappa and former minister Janardhana Reddy were among the leaders Pushpa referred to buttress her argument. “Reddy allegedly spent Rs 500 crore to throw a lavish wedding for his daughter; this, when the people of the country were queuing up outside banks and ATMs after the central government announced demonetisation. Why are the income tax (I-T) and ED officials questioning BJP leaders. The BJP has adopted the polity of hatred, and using government agencies to intimidate leaders of our party,” she added.

Declaring her party’s intention to protest the misuse of government agencies by the ruling dispensation, Pushpa said that the rank and file of the Congress was with senior leader DK Shivakumar. “The ED and I-T officials are mum about Operation Lotus, and are not acting against those BJP leaders involved in the same. I demand a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the whole affair,” said Pushpa.
Slamming the BJP for naming Lakshman C Savadi as a deputy chief minister, Pushpa said, “Savadi was caught watching an obscene video during an assembly session. The BJP has insulted women, and the assembly by appointing him a deputy CM.”
