District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner D.S.Lokesh Kumar said draft electoral rolls will be released on the same day as the Electors Verification Programme (EVP) comes to an end.

The EVP, which has been launched on September 1 under the Special Summary Revision-2020, will continue for 45 days, and end on October 15, he said at a meeting with political party representatives on Tuesday.

During this period, the citizens/voters may verify their details in the National Voters Service Portal of the Election Commission of India and authenticate by uploading their identity proof such as passport, driving license, Aadhaar, ration card, bank passbook, farmer’s identity card, or identity card for government/semi-government officials.

Instead, they may also visit their polling station location, or download ‘Voter Helpline’ mobile application. The voters may submit filled up forms along with the identity proof in the voters facilitation centres in the Electoral Registration Office concerned. Persons with disabilities may furnish their details through ECI helpline ‘1950’.

Form-6 needs to be generated for fresh registration, Form-7 in case of deceased or shifted voters, and Form-8 for corrections, a statement from GHMC said.

Booth level officers (BLOs), on their part, will also collect the details from other electors who have not authenticated their details, and information of unenrolled and prospective voters, during their verification drive.

Addresses of the electors will be standardised during the SSR-2020, by making them mandatory. Where house numbers given by Panchayat or municipal authorities is not available, a notional number will be given in the roll, with indication about the same.

Deletions will be effected from the electoral rolls only in cases where he is not found to be ordinarily residing, after receiving Form-7 from the elector himself. Similarly, demographically similar entries, and those of permanently shifted voters will be removed only after Form-7 is received from an elector. In case of deceased voters, notices will be issued to the kin for removal of the name, the statement said.

Political parties have been requested to nominate their representatives at Assembly Constituency level and also as booth level agents.

Mr.Lokesh Kumar said rationalisation of polling stations will be taken up even before finalisation of draft rolls, and asked the representatives to make their suggestions about the same before October 6. One polling station will be designated for 1,500 voters, and care will be exercised to ensure that the stations are located in the ground floor of the building, he assured.

In another event in Kondapur, the Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar addressed an awareness meeting for the IT employees and experts and familiarised them to the process.
