Father arrested for raping his minor daughter

Vadodara: A minor girl from the Ghoghamba taluka in Panchmahal district has accused her father of raping her.
While the alleged crime was committed in November last year, an offence was lodged on Tuesday night.
According to the police, the girl and her mother had gone to their father’s house for working in the farms on November 9, 2018. The father used to stay at his wife’s residence in Godli Patel Falia while his farm was in the Vavkundli village.
The complainant had stated that her father took her away from her cot and raped her in the early hours on November 9. He then threatened the girl and her mother of dire consequences if they mentioned about the incident to anybody.
Officials in the Damavav police station said that the girl as well as her mother were reluctant to file the complaint out of fear of facing the society if they did so. The girl also has three sisters as well as a brother and they were concerned about their future, said an officer. They eventually decided to go ahead and register an offence on Tuesday. The father was arrested.
