JAIPUR: The body of an 11-year-old
boy who went missing on Sunday was found in a pond close to his house in city’s Brahampuri police station area on Tuesday. The boy’s parents had lodged a missing persons report on Sunday when he did not return home after going out to play.
The boy was identified as
Bhanupratap Singh, a Class VI student and a resident of Jaisinghpura Khor. Brijendra Singh Bhati, circle officer, Amber police district, told TOI, “the boy was reported missing by his parents on Sunday who said that he went out to play but didn’t return. On Tuesday, his body was found in a pond, some 200 metres from his house.”
Forensic evidence was collected from the spot. Officials said, prima facie, the boy died due to accidental drowning.
“The boy’s clothes including undergarments were found near the pond. It appears that he went for a swim and probably drowned as it was a big and deep pond,” Bhati added.
The officials said they found nothing suspicious in Singh’s death. “We are looking at all possible angles but have found no evidence suggesting that the death was a suicide or murder. As of now, it is a case of accidental drowning though it is too early to confirm anything. We will talk to the boy’s parents to find out more details,” the officer added.
The post-mortem was conducted on Tuesday and the body was handed over to the family members.
