Catholicos visits Patriarch of Moscow

Plan to enhance relationship between the two Churches

Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan Baselios Mar Thoma Poulose II recently visited Patriarch Kirill, the Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus’ and Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.

At the official residence of Moscow’s Patriarch, the Orthodox Church head was accorded a warm reception by the Patriarch and Hilarion Alfeyev, Metropolitan of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Department of External Church Relations.

During the visit, which lasted about an hour, the two Churches agreed on constituting a working group by including representatives from both sides to enhance the relationship between the two.

Community services

Plans are also afoot to encourage community services, involving the two churches.

There are also plans to intensify links at the academic level.

During the visit, the Catholicos also presented a book on symphony, authored by Fr M.P George to Patriarch Kiril.
