Attempt to rob bank at Savoi Verem

PONDA: Miscreants made an unsuccessful attempt to rob a branch of Indian Overseas Bank at Savoi Verem between Sunday and Tuesday.
The matter came to light on Wednesday morning when bank staff came to open the branch after Ganesh festival holidays.
Sources said that unidentified persons entered the branch by detaching the iron rods of the windows using gas cutters, and tried breaking open the strong room and Automatic Teller Machine (ATM).
The perpertrators also disconnected the CCTV cameras and electricity connection to disable the siren. As they were unsuccessful in their attempt, they fled with parts of the CCTV surveillance system, sources said.
