KCR diluting constitutional bodies: Revanth

more-in

TPCC working president and Malkajgiri MP, A. Revanth Reddy accused the Chief Minister, K. Chandrashekar Rao of diluting constitutional institutions and the delay in constituting the Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) is also another effort to take decisions without the mandatory approval of the ERC.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Mr. Reddy said the power companies are in bad debts and all the decisions that had to be taken involving stakeholders like the political parties, people and voluntary organisations are not being done.

“I have already highlighted the lacunae in the power agreements but the government has not responded so far. I believe the delay in constitution of ERC is also an effort to keep the dealings secret,” he argued.

He said the process to appoint the ERC started in December last with the appointment of a three-member committee headed by retired judge V. Bhaskar Rao but till date nothing has moved. This delay is suspicious. Moreover, the government has not provided the reports to the ERC since 2014-15 and the proposals for electricity tariffs for the year 2020-21 have to be sent to ERC before November 2. But there seems to be an effort to delay the submission this year too, he alleged and said any decision taken by the government in the power sector without the permission of the ERC is against the law.
